Assessing Wetland Methane Emissions in Alaska
Duration:12/2013-12/2015

Project Objectives
This project is to synthesize methane emissions from Alaskan wetlands in assisting USGS’s effort of regional assessments of ecosystem carbon stock and sequestration in Alaska. Purdue team will use a process-based methane biogeochemistry model to conduct simulations for the spatial and temporal domains that have been specified in the USGS research plan. Specifically, in addition to using the existing wetland maps in developing our estimates of methane emissions, Purdue team will work with USGS team to utilize a more detailed wetland distribution map that will be developed at the USGS to revise our estimates. Uncertainty of these estimates will be provided.
