Congratulations go out to Dave Hager as announcements are made by Devon Energy Corporation to move him into the position of president and CEO. The announcement was made after  current CEO John Richels' decision to retire.

As the previous executive vice president of exploration and production, Hager moves into this top post well suited for his new role. He first came to Devon in 2009, at which point he left the company's board of directors, a position he had held for two years. From 1999 to 2006, Hager worked for Kerr-McGee Corp. in a number of roles, including chief operating officer. He began his 35-year career in the energy industry in 1979 as a geophysicist with Exxon Mobil Corp.

Hager is a graduate of Purdue University's Department of Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, where he earned a bachelor's degree in geophysics, and Southern Methodist University, where he completed a Master of Business Administration.
